Busy Bees !

Year 6 have spent the last 4 weeks working really hard on their Business Enterprise projects and last night, Thursday 13th July, saw them reap the benefits of all their hard work. The children worked in groups to create their products from scratch, starting with an initial idea and creating a detailed business plan to pitch to the teachers in ‘Dragon’s Den’ style.  From this, they were given start-up funds with which to go and buy their raw materials. Then came the ‘making’ process which saw both Y6 classes becoming havens of activity: gluing, painting, pasting, attaching and sewing amongst other skills. All of the groups made very different products and it was lovely to see the range of goods on offer. After visits from other year groups during school time and staff, parents, grandparents and other family and friends after school last night, it was fantastic for the children to see that hard work does indeed ‘pay off’. We have still got some bits to sell at the Summer Fair but so far, the total raised is in excess of £370.

The Y6 children had held a democratic vote to decide which charity the money raised should go to and the clear winner was Wessex Cancer.  We are really pleased to be supporting such an amazing charity.
