Engaging in English (September 2015)

On Monday 14th September the children in Key Stage 2 started to have their English and Maths lessons in their Learning Groups.  Mrs Hudson is incredibly proud of how well the children have settled into their groups and how sensibly and quietly they move between classrooms.  Well done everyone.

In particular, Mrs Hudson has been impressed with the fantastic learning attitudes demonstrated by the children in Year 6.  They have all produced some high quality work so far and we know that the quality of their work is going to get better and better as the year goes on.  In English, we are reading and responding to the story of Outlaw by Michael Morpurgo and the children have been thoroughly engaged with it so far.

We have been using our reading skills of inference and deduction to work out the clues that are hidden in the story and the children have been developing good answering techniques using 'because' and 'which means' in their answers.

In addition to this, we have been enhancing our understanding of the book using our Oracy skills and a range of drama activities.  Mrs Hudson's Learning Group particularly enjoyed role playing Robin and the Outlaws and the 'Telephone Conversation' between Robin and his father.  Here are some of the children in action.
