School 'weather' Closures

School 'weather' Closures

Our winter has been quite mild so far, but as we all know, snow can fall right up to Easter.  It will always be our school's intention to open, however cold or icy it becomes, but schools do sometimes have to close if, for instance, the heating systems break down or staff can't drive to school, so we thought we would remind you of the school's emergency closure procedures.

  • We aim to make any decision regarding closing the school by around 7.30am.
  • The decision to close the school will be communicated to you via email and will be placed on the school website on the front page.
  • Dorset County Council will also put it on their website 'Dorset for You' which can be accessed at https://mapping.dorsetforyou.gov.uk/closedservices/Service/schools
  • Details confirming the school's re-opening times/dates will be sent to you through email and will also be displayed on the school and County websites.

As we monitor the weather over the coming months, we will alert you to any severe weather warning we receive at school.  However, as long as staff can safely travel in and as long as the heating system works, we will remain open.
