Making Shadufs

During our topic of Temples, Tombs and Treasure we have been thinking about how the Egyptians got water to drink, wash, and water their plants. We had a go at inventing our own ways of getting water out of the River Nile and then looked at how the Egyptians really did it.

We learned that they used a contraption called a shaduf. This is a levered structure with a bucket on one end and a large stone on the other. Have a look at the shadufs we made!
