This week, 6AS have been challenging themselves about fractions.
They were presented with a range of shapes and were asked to discuss, in small groups, what the fraction of the shape could be.
Their answers were really interesting and highlighted some gaps in their knowledge about fractions, such as which fraction is bigger than another.
Some pupils were able to use their creative thinking, by using their knowledge of angles and symmetry, to suggest an answer to one of the shaded shapes.
Below are the shapes the pupils examined. I wonder if you can work out what the shaded part of each shape would be as a fraction? I’m sure your child will be able to help you now!
