Will your Child qualify for Free School Meals?

WHO QUALIFIES FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS?

If you are receipt of any of the following benefits, you may be entitled to order free school meals for your child  –

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit. You must also have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit – if you apply on or after 1 April 2018, your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

Applying for free school meals is a quick process and is really important as the school recieves vital additional funding based on the numbers of children registered for this award.

Even if your child prefers to bring a packed lunch, or if they are in KS1 or EYFS, where all children are able to receive a free school meal, please apply as this extra money is used to support your child’s learning.  If your child is eligible they may also qualify for a free jumper or cardigan each year as well as reduced rate for any residential trips which we run.

Please click this link and then select the green button on the right to see if you are eligible for free school meals.  If you are unable to access the BCP Council website, there is a link to a paper form below.  Please complete that and post it to the address given.

The leaflet below answers further questions.  If you would prefer to speak to someone, please ask in the office or speak to Mrs Hill.
